 Auckland train at station

Veolia Transport operates the commuter rail service in Auckland, in partnership with the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA). Veolia's contract has been extended to March 2014.

Both Veolia and ARTA are committed to increasing and enhancing passenger rail services in the Auckland region. The Auckland train network carries more than 8 million passengers per annum, is serviced by over 400 staff and operates over 900 weekly services.

Upgrading of the rail network is a key focus for the business. It is a gradual process of renewal and improvement in line with the Regional Land Transport Strategy 2003. This includes continuing to support ARTA's initiatives to double-track the Western line, upgrade rail stations and procure new rolling stock.
